Seniors - YouTube Assignments

For Kendra:

Here is a clip of your opera scene:

This is interesting: A dancer records original choreography to The Crucifixion. I hope you enjoy it.

For Tamara:

Here is a clip of your opera scene:

A clip of Porgi Amor. Dame Kiri te Kanawa was probably the best Countess of her generation. This is a really beautiful performance both musically and dramatically.

Juniors - You Tube Assigments

For Camille:

Here is a clip of Patricia Cioffi singing O mio babbino caro in a production of Puccini's Gianni Schicchi. In this aria she is begging her father for permission to marry Rinucchio, and threatens to jump into the river and kill herself if he says no.

Here is another clip. This time it is Anna Netrebko singing it on live TV. Notice the difference in their dramatic approaches.

For Anesha

This is a clip of Beverly Sills singing Chacun le sait in a 1979 concert. She was very famous for this role earlier in her career. Though she looks too old for the role here (and the dress is horrible), her French is impeccable and her acting terrific:

Here is Patricia Cioffi and Juan Diego Florez in the Act I Finale of Daughter of the Regiment. Marie is leaving the regiment that raised her since they found her as an orphaned infant to join the rich woman who has legally become her guardian. Tonio joined the regiment to be close to Marie right before all of this happened, so he is heartbroken that she is leaving (as is the whole regiment).

This clip is a news story on the opera for British TV

And one more: the famous Lesson scene where Marie's aunt tries to teach her how to act and sing in a cultured way. The man is the regimental commander who has been her adopted father since childhood (and now has taken a liking to her aunt)
Marie is not an enthusiastic student and purposely sings badly. The commander keeps distracting her with regimental songs.

For Jasmine

Youtube clip of Et Exultavit with some of the new extra breaths we were discussing:

Some different Non so pius

This one is Frederica von Stade, widely regarded as the best Cherubino of her time (maybe all time)

For Rimmel

Shirley Verrett sings Che faro senza Eurydice

I was hoping to find a clip of Nacht und traume, but the only one on Youtube is pretty bad!

Here's a clip of your opera scene. It is sung by boys in this production:
